MICRONEEDLING

LEADERS IN MEDICAL ESTHETICS

Beautiful, fresh, glowing skin is an asset, giving the face and body a youthful appearance. A professional skincare regime helps to maintain, preserve and protect skin from sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles – but as time passes, collagen production slows, and topical treatments are not enough. When it is time to take a bigger step to rejuvenate your skin, Microneedling may be the right treatment option.

Using an electric handheld device, 9 very-fine needles that create thousands of micro-channels within the skin stimulate what’s called a “wound healing response.” This, in turn, creates the stimulation of collagen, alleviating the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines, and wrinkles, even stretch marks!!

Rejuvalase Microneedling treatment gives a light tingling, or “prickly” sensation, and may provide a temporary reddening for up to 24-48 hours post-treatment. It may also create a sensation similar to a mild sunburn. Even pinpoint bleeding that can occur with a deeper treatment, usually only leaves redness and mild inflammation for 2-4 days max!

Working hand in hand with our skin specialist that knows your skin’s needs and wants, you can feel rest assured that a treatment of this magnitude is done with care and expertise.  The optimal result may be achieved with a series of treatments. An individualized at-home regimen is always prescribed by our specialists and recommended for your personal needs.

MICRONEEDLING WITH PRP

Microneedling with PRP is an effective, highly advanced technique to trigger natural collagen production in the skin tissue. Microneedling involves the use of tiny needles that produce micro-injuries to the skin. These micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural collagen production – that substance that provides flexibility and strength to skin and body tissue. To speed the healing process, Microneedling is further enhanced by PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). The PRP is obtained from drawing a small amount of your own blood, from which the plasma is separated to concentrate on healing properties.

At Rejuvalase, our mission is to provide our clients with the most modern treatments to preserve, maintain, and restore skin on the face and body. We believe Microneedling with PRP can do wonders for skin that has begun to show the signs of age. Your body’s natural healing processes are accelerated with PRP, and as the collagen production increases, your skin regains its natural elasticity, smoothness, firmness, and glow.

FAQ: MICRONEEDLING

What is Microneedling?

We use an electric skin needling device made especially for this purpose. The device is a pen-shaped studded with 9 very fine needles. Microneedling breaks down old scar tissue and stimulates cells to proliferate. This cell multiplication results in the formation of new tissue layers of elastin and collagen fibers as well as in new capillaries for improved blood supply.

How does Microneedling work?

The device slides along the skin, penetrating the upper layers of the skin to a depth of .5mm -2.5mm to create numerous small needle wounds. The procedure prompts the body to respond through the creation of new collagen and elastin fibers. In response to the stimulus, the skin plumps and thickens, reducing the appearance of scars, and fine lines and wrinkles.
What conditions can be treated or improved with Medical Microneedling?
• Mild to moderate acne scarring; any new or old scars
• Skin texture and pore size
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Stretch marks

What does the procedure involve?

Numbing cream may be applied 30-45mins. prior to micro-needling to lessen discomfort. For better results, we use a collagen-stimulating product like Hyaluronic Acid. A small handheld pen-like device with a sterile, disposable tip with 9 tiny needles is then used to pierce the skin. Our needling pen’s multi-speed and adjustable needle depth allow needles to pierce the skin’s layer and increase the absorption of products. After the treatment, soothing Hyaluronic acid or Copper Healing Gel is used to hydrate, heal and protect the skin.

What will I look like after the treatment?

Most people will experience redness and mild swelling in a similar way as mild sunburn for 24-48 hours and there may be minimal pin-point bleeding and/or bruising. Within a week or two, you will notice that your skin is smoother and more radiant looking but the full effects won’t be seen until a few months later.
What is the downtime after Microneedling treatment?
The inflammatory reaction of the skin is extremely short and fades significantly within hours from redness to pinkish that may last for 12 to 48 hours. Hyaluronic Acid based products are recommended to assist with redness and possible dryness.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Some patients require only a single treatment to achieve optimal results. However, most patients will benefit most from a series of 4 treatments, spaced 3-4 wks apart.
For patients with deep acne scarring, wrinkles, or stretch marks we recommended 6-8 treatments at 3-4 wk intervals.

What are the benefits of Microneedling?

• Dramatically increases the effectiveness and penetration of active ingredients in topical preparation
• Stimulates circulation and collagen production
• Medical grade needles make it non-allergenic to human tissue
• Cost-effective compared to other resurfacing procedures
• Can be performed on all skin types, including ethnic skin
• It can be used in all areas of the scalp, face, body including fragile skin like around eyes, mouth and neck

What effects does the Microneedling have on the skin?

• stimulates tissue regeneration
• disfiguring scars, especially acne scars can be improved as new collagen fibers elevate the depressed scar tissue with the periphery skin
• pore size reduction
• improves the appearance of stretch marks
• improves skin texture and reduces the appearance of wrinkles

What are the side effects of the Microneedling procedure?

There are virtually no negative side effects, and none have ever been reported in over 150,000 procedures performed worldwide.

Are there any reasons you would not be a candidate for Microneedling?

You would not be a candidate for Microneedling if you have any Cardiac/Vascular Condition, if you are pregnant, if you have a history of keloids, have skin cancer/lesions or any active bacterial or fungal infection.

Can you have Microneedling performed the same day as any of our other Medical Services?

You most definitely can have micro-needling combined with other services.
However, we recommend you wait 1 week before/after any Dermal Fillers as well as 2 weeks before/after Laser Genesis. Please consult with the Rejuvalase staff when booking and be sure to mention wanting multiple services.

FAQ: MICRONEEDLING WITH PRP

Instead of using hyaluronic acid or Vitamin C serum, Microneedling can also be performed with PRP (platelet-rich plasma from your own blood).

Is Microneedling with PRP right for me?

PRP is available to adults who want to improve the appearance of the skin. Microeedling is also an effective treatment for reducing the appearance of stretch marks. It is a safe and effective treatment for all skin types. The depth of the microneedling will be adjusted for each individual and the body areas to be treated. This low-risk treatment is appropriate for clients with darker skin types and for clients for whom laser treatments would be inappropriate.

How Does PRP Work?

PRP is created from a person’s own blood and is a concentrated blend of plasma cells and specific growth factors. First, a small amount of blood is drawn into a sterile tube by one of our Therapists.  The tube is placed in a special centrifuge that spins and separates the blood components into red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelet-rich plasma. While your Platelet Rich Plasma is being “spun”, your skin will be gently cleansed and prepared for the treatment. The Platelet Rich Plasma is then used in conjunction with Microneedling to deliver unsurpassed, nonsurgical facial rejuvenation, or scar revision.

Can I Combine PRP with Other Treatments?

Rest assured, all of our dermal fillers can be used in conjunction with PRP Therapy and each has their place and purpose. For example, Restylane and Juvederm fill specific lines and folds whereas Platelet Rich Plasma improves overall volume, fullness, and skin tone. PRP acts to improve the overall quality, tightness, and texture of your skin and dermal fillers work on individual, deeper wrinkles.

How Many Microneedling with PRP Treatments are Recommended?

We generally recommend 2-3 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart for you to see the full effects. For very deep lines or scars, you may need 4-6 treatments in total. After you have achieved the full effect, you can maintain your results with 1-2 treatments a year.

What are the benefits of Microneedling with PRP?

  • Reduces broken capillaries and spider veins
  • Reduces the appearance of large pores
  • Reduces acne scars
  • Evens skin tone
  • Improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Gives the skin a fresh glow
  • Gives the skin a firmer and smoother texture
  • Helps lighten sunspots

What Will I Experience During Treatment?

PRP Therapy with Microneedling – similar to the Vampire Facial – treatment will take about 60 minutes. There will be 20 minutes of numbing, followed by 15 minutes for the microneedling to be performed. The PRP is then applied to your skin like a Masque. This takes a few minutes.

When will I see the results?

Since PRP stimulates your body to produce its own natural collagen, the results are gradual. You will start to see results about one month after your treatment, with full results at three months. We generally recommend 2-3 treatments spaced about 4-6 weeks apart for you to see the full effects. For very deep lines or scars, you will usually need 4-6 treatments in total.

Can Any Skin Type use PRP?

Yes. Since PRP comes from your own body, it can safely be used on any skin type.
